Las Boas de Ibiza

Artfully blending tradition and modernity, Las Boas de Ibiza offers a unique living experience that captures the essence of the island in all its contrasts.

Las Boas is a building that captivates your attention. Passers-by pause to look as they go down the long, palm-dotted, immaculately-tended promenade in front. The stunning, sinuous twists of primary colour draw your eye in to the open centre of the structure, a one-of-a-kind amphitheatre that has the whole of Ibiza as its stage.

This playful, extrovert character extends throughout the development. Designed by leading contemporary architect Jean Nouvel in partnership with top Barcelona shop Ribas & Ribas, the intention was to combine the two unique aspects of Ibiza life—tradition and modernity—in one spectacular whole.

The hedonism for which the island is renowned is celebrated in the splashes and swirls of bright colour everywhere, the exuberance of the feather boa from which the building gets its name, which rise up in tiers of sexy, sensual curves that draw the eye around, giving a sense of freedom and openness and a chance for unexpected connection.

Traditional local roots are echoed in the use of white as background colour throughout and the fact that each apartment is named after a different cala Ibicenca, the intimate, natural coves that crowd the island's shores. In fact, the form of the entire building is inspired by the form of an Ibizan cove, complete with the water in the form of a lake-size pool. At night, projections illuminate the water filling the central stage of the building with light.

These two elements contrast and complement each other to create an intoxicating fusion, a microcosm of Ibiza itself. Each apartment has each with a different view, either toward the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ibiza Old Town, Dalt Vila, or towards Formentera, while the complex is ideally located between the island's two top clubs, Pacha and Lio. In the foreground is Marina Ibiza, the preferred anchoring spot for some of the island's most exclusive visitors during the summer season.

Every one of the 179 apartments is unique, down to the trencadís used to make the floor—traditional hand-broken tile shards, often used by Barcelona architect Gaudí in his work—which are different in every single unit.
